I know of hunters with coon dogs that give them raw venison bones with no ill effect. (At least that's what I'm told.) As far as diseases found in cervids (deer, elk,etc.) there is no worry about a canine contracting them.
In fact I have to believe that wolves, coyotes, and fox help to rid the deer herds of the sick animals.
