Absolutely! Over the twenty five years we've been married, we have at one time or another eaten venison from every month of the year, by utilizing road kills, crop damage, and all hunting seasons. In my recollection I don't think we've ever had one we didn't like, and I would rate crop damage venison as some of the best. Heck, it's like having your own feed lot the way hogs and cattle are handled prior to slaughter.

The one big difference in crop damage deer is that you don't have time to screw around once the trigger is pulled. Normally we shoot, field dress, rinse, and hang the deer in our cooler within 30 - 45 minutes. If you don't have a cooler, then it needs to be skinned, boned or quartered, and refrigerated or frozen immediately.
More venison is ruined by time and temperature than anything else.

Good luck,
