How long would you hold beef, pork, or chicken in the same refrigerator and still use it?  In supermarkets most meat departments code their fresh meat for four days which would still give customers  a couple more days in their refrigerators with no problems.
    However I have never seen or heard of anyone that would expect to hold fresh meat unfrozen for five or six weeks. With the cost of medical services today, is it worth the risk?
